Adjudged the Best STEP by DST in 2000, SJCE STEP has successfully incubated 14 firms , thus creating 500 jobs and generating Rs 10 cr(Rupees one hundred million) annually.

SJCE STEP is hosted by Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering (SJCE). Founded in 1963, it is now an autonomous institution under V.T.U Belgaum and is governed by the Grant-in-Aid rules of the Government of Karnataka. The institute offers graduate, post graduate and research programmes to its students including research programs leading to M.Sc. (Engg) and Ph.D. in Electrical Sciences, Mathematics, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Polymer Science and Technology. Identified as one of the Centres of the Network scheme envisaged by the Government of India, the college has thus been enabling active interactions with institutions such as the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.
In existence for twenty three years, SJCE STEP has been identified as the base for Indian STEP Association, promoting networking amongst all STEPs in India and Science Parks globally, notably in the UK, the USA, Malaysia and Austria.
