The  TBI is housed at the Biotech Centre, University of Delhi South Campus for the incubation support and mentoring of startup companies for development of ideas and technology in areas of industrial microbiology and biotechnology specifically fermentation based for  production of various bioactive molecules, downstream processing and possible exploitation for industrial usage. Laboratories have been designed keeping in mind the full usage of work space with state of the art facilities to incubate small business ventures with all the research and development facilities under one roof. Fermentors (10, 14, 30, 200, 300 Litres) would be situated in the same building with all the in house facilities.

The University of Delhi is the premier university of the country established in 1922 and known for its high standards in teaching and research which attracts eminent scholars to its faculty. The South Campus made a beginning in 1973 and since then it has developed excellent facilities and infrastructure for applied sciences in microbiology, genetics, biochemistry and plant molecular biology.

The TBI has laid out future plans for training and entrepreneurship development for working professionals and students in fermentation and other microbiological processes along with state of the art laboratory facilities for industries for their technology incubation along with promotion of research activities to be taken up by scientists and technical staff.
