Established in 2003, VIT-TBI focuses on Auto Components, Biotechnology and Consumer Durables and has incubated 18 enterprises so far of which 5 Companies have successfully graduated. The firms incubated by VIT-TBI have created more than 65 jobs and contributed Rs 1.6 cr (Rupees 16 million) to the economy.

VIT-TBI is situated inside the University of Vellore- Institute of Technology. Hence, VIT-TBI leverages all the resources that are available within the campus such as access to laboratory, workshops, development and testing centers, computing resources, internet access and above all the human resources. In addition to these resources, VIT-TBI also has a network of eminent professionals, academicians, bankers, venture capitalists and businessmen, who can extend support to these ventures.

Through its various activities, presence in various forums, mailers, advertisements, reports in the press, newsletters, distribution of pamphlets, sponsorship of events, hosting camps and other conscious sustained  promotional initiatives, VIT-TBI has achieved good visibility. 7 incubatee companies of VIT-TBI have received SEED fund support of Rs.38.5 lakhs.

VITTBI has initiated a novel soft landing programme that would assist in bringing in International companies to setup operations in the region. The TBI offers a complete range of Business Incubation supports to facilitate launch of these ventures. Through this effort Kramski GMBH, a German based SME is setting up a manufacturing unit named KRAMSKI Stamping and Molding India Pvt. Ltd., in Vellore. The company is investing around Rs.12 crores and there is an employment potential for about 100 people in the next two years.
