With a focus on enterprises in ICT and electronics related areas with particular reference to Embedded Systems, Digital Signal Processing, Electronic Card Design, Assembly, Testing & Repair, Wireless Embedded Systems and Multimedia Technology, TBI KEC has incubated 22 companies since inception in 2003. Of these, 12 have already graduated successfully. Located in a region known for its entrepreneurial culture TBI KEC incubatees have collectively generated more than 200 jobs till date. TBI KEC is associated with Kongu Engineering College, one of the foremost multi professional research-led Institutions. It provides an integral, inter-disciplinary education-a unique intersection between theory and practice, passion and reason. The college offers courses of study that are on the frontiers of knowledge and it connects the spiritual and practical dimensions of intellectual life, in a stimulating environment that fosters rigorous scholarship and supportive community. This institute is affiliated to Anna University and the college has completed 25 Years of dedicated service of the people of India and abroad in the field of Technical Education. Though facilities for development of various industries like textiles, automobiles, poultry, construction, utility equipments etc., were available in the region, there was no facility for nurturing entrepreneurship and product/service development in hi-tech electronics and ICT related areas. TBI@KEC fills this much needed gap. The small time entrepreneurs as well as medium enterprises in the region are major beneficiaries of the support provided by TBI in terms of infrastructural facilities, mentoring, support and financial assistance to convert their ideas into commercial realities. Additionally, faculty and students of technical institutions are directly involved with entrepreneurs for product/ service development. TBI also provides electronic repair and fabrication, reengineering and consultancy services. Incubated firms at TBI KEC have developed 14 products so far and 4 incubatees have received SEED fund support of Rs. 15 Lacs. |
